Our Senior High Youth have a saying- “It’s not about you”. We use this to remind us how we should live in the world. We strive to lives devoted to service, compassion, and generosity in a world that values the opposite. The Senior High ministries at Mount Calvary provide an environment that students can be themselves, but at the same time helps students live the “abundant life”.
Wednesday Night Youth Group
The Senior High Youth Group is a fantastic “outward-focused community” that meets during the Faith Formation Program on Wednesday nights. From 5:30pm-6:30pm there will be dinner in the Sullivan Room and then from 6:30pm-7:30pm the Sr. High Youth Group will meet in the upstairs classroom. This group is comprised of students in grades 9-12 from all around the Boulder area. The group is an honest, real, caring community, and is always having a good time.
Our Senior High students always point to their experiences at summer camp as some of the most meaningful times in their faith. Every year, the Mount Calvary Senior High attends one full week of summer camp at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp in Hillside, CO. The week is centered on students taking leadership positions as they explore new areas in their faith. Please visit rainbowtrail.org for more information.
“The” Summer Trip
Every year our Senior High Students have the opportunity to go on a faith forming adventure. Each trip is truly one of a kind and a highlight of all Senior High programming.
Past summer trips have included a week of backpacking through the Sangre De Cristos mountain range, a week-long mission trip to Galveston, TX, and a few amazing days at the ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans, LA, a visit to the Haruma Center, an orphanage in Iringa, Tanzania. The summer of 2015 held the latest adventure: the ELCA Youth Gathering in Detroit, Michigan.
To make these trips a reality students spend time throughout the year doing a healthy amount of fundraising. These efforts include cooking Easter Breakfast for the congregation, selling Butter Braids, washing cars, and many other fun, money-raising events.
