Some of you may already know this, but for others it may come as a surprise. There really is a lavender field in Boulder County. And the farmer is a member of Mount Calvary—it’s me, Mike Richters!
Later this month the farm will open to the public for the first time. Lavender lovers from as far away as Laramie and Colorado Springs are already waiting for that first day so they can cut their own bundles of lavender flowers.
Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church was established in 1887 by Swedish immigrants to Colorado. Throughout the years, Mount Calvary has grown from its humble roots and prospered along with Boulder, so that now it and its members are "blessed to be a blessing" to the community and the world. In recognition of that blessing, we have adopted this phrase from Genesis, "Blessed To Be A Blessing", as our motto and mission. It is now chiseled into the stone over the entrance to our new building.
Beginning with Sunday, June 8th, 2008, the 2nd Worship service will be moving 1 hour earlier to a 9:30 a.m. start time. This move is intended to provide a little social period when the 1st and 2nd services can mingle in the fellowship hall. Service times will return to the normal 8:00 and 10:30 when Sunday School resumes in the fall. Please join us for one of these services and enjoy God's blessings this summer.
